The following call for artists of all practices is presented by Portland on the Park Condominiums in partnership with Artlink Inc. The deadline to submit is Thursday, August 6, by 5:00 p.m. (local Arizona time).

BACKGROUND AND OVERVIEW 

Portland on the Park (PotP) is located in the Historic Roosevelt Neighborhood just a few steps away from Roosevelt Row and the beautiful Margaret T. Hance Park. PotP is home to 149 residences and three commercial tenants.

In 2018, the Portland on the Park Arts Program was created to connect the residents to the arts and culture community. An Arts Committee comprised of PotP residents was created to manage the program, and an Art Fund was established in partnership with Artlink Inc. for the purposes of developing a Portland on the Park art collection.

Through a series of exhibitions, art is displayed in the established first-floor gallery space and in common areas throughout the building. The art selected for the exhibition is available for purchase for the Portland on the Park Collection as well as by the residents and their guests. 

Most importantly, the exhibitions serve as a process for the PotP Arts Working Group to select works for the building's collection. A total of 32 artworks have been purchased for the collection to date, and more than 70 additional works have been purchased by residents.

Cycle 21:  The architectural niches on each residential floor display purchased artworks of the PotP collection. This cycle is an invitation for works that do not have to conform to niche specs. Both 2D and 3D works of varying sizes will be considered. 

A variety of artworks are welcome for submission, including oil, watercolor, acrylic, graphite, charcoal, pastels, photography, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, and mixed media. 

Sculptures suitable for exterior settings are also encouraged.

SUBMISSION DETAILS 

Criteria: PotP residents have been surveyed, and their preferences range from the humorous to the thought-provoking, from the endearing to edgy, and from representational pieces to wholly abstract works. The goal of the selection committee is to curate an exhibition that will strike a dynamic balance between these interests. More than one artwork from a submitting artist may be selected. This is a call for existing work.

The following artworks will be considered for this exhibition:

• Artworks will primarily be chosen to fit architectural niches, each with an inset measuring 40”w x 57 3/4”h. 
• Works in a range of sizes will be selected for display on walls, outside the above-referenced niches.
• A limited number of sculptures will also be considered for display in the PotP lobby.
• All works of art must be properly finished, and ready to hang. 
• Artworks without reflective glass frames are preferred.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to artists living and working in the metro Phoenix area with the ability to produce exemplary art. 

Artists must be pre-registered as an Artlink Articipant. Find the registration form on artlinkphx.org. By submitting artwork for consideration, the artist agrees to the following: 

• Each artist can submit up to three (3) works for consideration.
• All submitted artworks are available for purchase (include sale price in submission details).
• All submitted artworks will be delivered by the artist in excellent condition. The artist agrees that they will deliver their selected artwork to Artlink/PotP representatives. 
• All selected art must be ready to hang. Works outside of glass frames are preferred. 
• Artwork should be created within five years.
• Artwork will be installed in public areas. Only artwork appropriate for all ages will be considered for purchase. 
• The artwork will be on exhibition for approximately four months. 
• Twenty percent (20%) of sales will be retained by the Portland on the Park Art Fund in support of future art purchases and programming.

Artlink Inc. is now accepting entries for the 25th year of the Artlink Juried Awards Exhibition, featuring the works of visual and performing artists residing in the state of Arizona. The exhibition will be hosted by Artlink's mood room gallery at Park Central in midtown Phoenix, opening on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The submission deadline is Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 5 p.m. local Arizona time.

OVERVIEW

Celebrating its 25th year, the Artlink Juried Awards Exhibition is officially open for submissions. As one of the largest art prizes available in Arizona, this premier competition offers a significant opportunity for the state's creative community. Emerging and established visual and performing artists of all mediums who reside in Arizona are invited to submit their work to be considered for this milestone exhibition. 

Artist awards will be selected by a jury of arts professionals and announced during the opening reception on Thursday, September, 24, 2026, presented at the Artlink mood room in Park Central.

Returning for 2026: To highlight this silver anniversary, Artlink is once again inviting performing artists to submit for this call, including creators in music, dance, and spoken word.

All artists selected by the jury will be considered for three cash awards:

• First Place: $5,000
• Second Place: $1,500
• Third Place: $750

HOST VENUE

The 25th Artlink Juried Awards Exhibition will be hosted in mood room at Park Central, from September 24 through October 16, 2026, with regular gallery hours. 

SUBMISSION DETAILS 

This is a call for existing work and is open to all performing and visual artists including, but not limited to, oil, watercolor, acrylic, graphite, charcoal, pastels, photography, ceramics, printmaking, textile, mixed media, fashion, music, dance, video, spoken word, multi-disciplinary, and sculpture/three-dimensional pieces. All selected artists will be eligible for awards. 

The online submission deadline is July 28, 2026 by 5 p.m. Artists who have exhibited in the past are permitted to submit, but may not submit a work selected in any previous Artlink Juried Exhibition. 

As part of Artlink's mission of connecting artists, businesses, and the community, no entry fee is required for this premier showcase of Arizona artists. 

NOTE: By submitting artwork for consideration, the artist agrees to the following:  

1. All artists selected for the Juried Exhibition will be eligible for awards. 
2. Selected performing artists will perform for the jury panel prior to the opening reception (date/time TBA) and present a live public performance during the opening night (in mood room or in the adjacent pavilion). A video provided by the artist or recorded the night of the opening reception will be presented on-screen during the duration of the exhibition. 
3. Selected artists will promptly provide all requested information and materials for a print catalogue, including a high-resolution image of selected work.
4. Delivery of selected visual artwork to Artlink at mood room in Park Central, 3121 N. 3rd Ave. Phoenix, Arizona 85013, for installation during a time period beginning Saturday, September 19 (times TBA). 
5. Selected visual artworks will be delivered ready to install and with any required monitors or projectors as applicable (pedestals will be provided). Artists of specialized works will support or be responsible for their installation.
6. All sales will be handled by Artlink. Artists receive 70% of the sale price of works sold. 
7. The artist agrees to pick up selected works following the exhibition's run on October 16, 2026 (specific time TBA).

BACKGROUND 

The Newton is a vibrant mixed-use destination located in Phoenix's iconic former Beef Eaters building. Named in honor of Beef Eaters founder Jay Newton, The Newton has evolved into a community gathering place where visitors can read, dine, shop, and connect.

Home to Changing Hands Bookstore, Tesota, and The Toasted Owl Cafe, The Newton brings together literature, local culture, food and beverage, and creativity under one roof.

The Newton Narratives exhibition will be presented in The Commons, The Newton's flexible event space and community hub. Surrounded by readers, shoppers, diners, and event guests, the exhibition invites artists to share work that sparks conversation and connection through the stories behind the art.

OVERVIEW

Every work of art carries a narrative. Some tell stories of personal transformation, family history, place, culture, memory, or imagination. Others reveal the hidden journeys behind a creative process, a fleeting moment, or a lifelong passion.

The Newton Narratives invites artists to share artwork accompanied by the story that inspired, informed, or emerged from its creation. This new program seeks works that spark connection through both visual expression and written narrative, encouraging viewers to engage with the artwork through multiple modes.

This exhibition celebrates the power of storytelling through art. Whether your piece reflects a significant life experience, a meaningful relationship, a cultural tradition, a moment of discovery, or a compelling fictional narrative, we welcome submissions that illuminate the stories behind the work.

Submission Requirements:

Please refer to the submission form, which includes the following:

• Up to three (3) works for consideration.
• A brief narrative (100–300 words) accompanying each artwork that explains the story, inspiration, memory, experience, or concept behind the piece. These narratives will be displayed next to the artwork.
• An image list that includes your full name (First, Last) title, medium, year of completion, size, and price.
